Happy 4th of July!!!
Hallo everyone! I'm currently in Indiana, writing this. Well, I'd be back home by the time you guys can read this. I'm glad my dad could buy me a little notepad so I can start writing here. It's Sunday, and I feel like I'm dying without my laptop. Okay, it's not that bad, but anyway, I'll go ahead and tell you guys about the trip so far from the very beginning..
It was 1am when I had to get up and finish packing. My parents made me sleep around 9ish, and Tenshi, I'm sure you remember that. xP I was tired, considering I received only 4 hours of sleep the previous night. I blame Gaia! Anyway.. We drove 2 hours to get to the airport, and the plane was to leave around 6am to Atlanta Georgia. So as you can imagine, it took us quite a while to get situated. When we finaly got seated on the plane, I was so excited. It was a small plane, and my dad kept leaning too close to me, but it was all good. I sat beside the window and right where this wing was too. Once the plane finally rolled onto the airstrip, it started to roll sooo fast! My favorite part! Before I knew it, we were flying! It was such a beautiful sight you guys, to see all the trees and land below. The sun was rising, we were eventually above the clouds, and that was so beautiful too. I loved it when the plane tilted so I could see what was down tehre better. It did get foggy, so when we reached Atlanta and the plane was lowering, all the buildings below looked like they were under water or something.
So we landed and started to tour around the Atlanta airport, and it waas seriously GIGANTIC! It looked like twenty malls combined together! Or a bunch of Super Targets! xD Not only that, it waas crowded beyond belief. Know what I liked though? Because the halls were so long, they had conveyer belts that you stand on to get closer to where you're going...like the Jetsons! Sorry, this probably doesn't seem like a big deal to you guys because they're ubiquitous in airports, but I had fun with them. Our next plane that was to take us to Chicago was going to arrive in 3 hours!! We all felt sleep deprived and bored. My ipod was half dead. We just walked and sat around. Finaly we got on the plane, and I was just excited as I was before. The plane ride lasted for around an hour and something minutes.
We then got a rental car and drove through Chicago traffic to Indiana. I tried to sleep in the car. When I opened my eyes, I found ourselves in the middle of nowhere. I saw endless fields of corn, cows, horses, farms.. We arrived at our hotel, and it was right down the road from the hotel my family was staying at. Rreason why we chose a different hotel was so that I could get my own room. We stayed at a cheap hotel. ^^! I can't sleep when I'm sharing a room with my mom b/c she snores. If I blast my music, my dad would get all upset. An hour after we got back, we went to this country resturant to meet my dad's family there. I felt so awkward and nervous. And every single person said, "Wow, I haven't seen you since you were this small!" So I was expecting the people I haven't talked to yet to tell me that. xP For dinner, we had the typical chicken, mashed potatoes, ect. Mikki, I won our picky eater contest right? xP I ate pie though. Yummy peanut butter and cherry pie!
After that, we hung out in our family's hotel lobby where the pool was. They had special things for my grandfather there, lol. You know what the first thing my grandfather said to me was? "Do you know whom I am? I'm your grandfather." Guess that comes to show how long it's been since we last saw each other. But I DID know who he was. After a while, I hung out with my two cousins, Christin and Max. They're both around 14 yeras old, and Max no likey anime anymores! T_T Chris does though. They're both very funny and nice to the extreme. I don't know what I was so nervous about. Oh, and Max has an older sister named Catherine. She's only like, one year older than me, and she's already married with a dude and has two babies. It was weird. o_0
After that gathering, we returned to our hotel. Sleep at last right? Uh, no. I could seriously hear someone's snoring through the wall... And the point of me getting my own room was so that I wouldn't be bothered by my mom's. And there's a train track right next to our hotel, and we all heard this train coming like, every fifteen minutes. It honked it's horn and sounded as if it was right in my ear. So I stayed awake, flipped through the tv channels. Whenever I'm alone with a tv that has no channels blocked, I immediately look for the baddest ones. xD You know, the deep romance and stuff like that. But then I neded up watching a drama on the lifetime channel. I don't remember what it's called, but it's about this teen...troubled teen...falling in love with a 50 year old man. And throughout the movie..well just imagine Momiji trying to get Hatori on a rollercoaster. I mean that in a figurative sense too. xD So I cried at the end, then remembered my sleeping problem, then listened to my ipod till 5am, then eventually fell asleep.
Turns out my parents had a miserable sleep as well. We got out of tha thotel at 1pm and searched for another. But the hotel desk person apparently couldn't talk to us b/c she was too busy on the phone. So we agreed we'd go to the hotel our family is staying at, and dad said I couldn't get my own room either...great... But before we went there, we went to look for something to eat. My mom had me sit in teh front seat b/c I was complaining about how warm it was in the back. >< First places we went to -hears a train- was a pancake house. It was closed. 2nd place, a fish resturant. Dun dun dun, it wasn't going to open till 4. We eventually settled down at this random bar. I ordered a hamburger. My mom and I sat while my dad was going to get us our drinks. I wanted soda, and mom wanted tea. He returned to tell my mom that they only had rhasberry tea. Seriously..what is that? Dad goes off to get us some straws, then something emotional happened.. My mom broke out crying! This is the second time I ever saw her cry. My dad came back, I told him, and he looked at my mom.. I'm sorry but when I think back on that, the look on my dad's face was funny.. Anyway, this made me sad and sort of speechless at the time. We discussed leaving for Chicago tonight and flying back home, but that'd be difficult, and sudden to the family. But in the end, we went to the hotel my familiy's staying at.
My dad bought me this little notepad I'm writing in now b/c I felt so desperate to write. Somehow, as I do, even if it isn't posted on the internet yet, it feels like you guys are reading this now.. Hm, maybe you guys are thinking about me? xD I miss you all so much!! Especially Tenshi..Bryan..Mikki.. -cry- Oki doki, I must get back on track now.. Umm.. So the next big event was the "weaner roast" at my grandfather's farm. (When I came back to Indiana -hears train- I thought my grandfather was going to be in the hospital..but in fact, he's up walking around and hanging out with us! xD) Oh, but right before the roast... My dad took us around the Notre Dame campus. My dad is addicted to Notre Dame. He showed me his highschool, the hospital he was born in, where he grew up...lecture...zzZZZzzz..huh? Oh, right, the roast! xP
So it was at my grandfather's farm... Hm, how should I describe it.. We were eating hotdogs in a swamp, really. There were old couches outside that got rained on, that some people sat on.. There was a pond, tons of flys.. -hears train- But it was actually nice.. I had fun talking to my aunt Marjory. She said she watched me grow up through pictures.. awww... My mom and I cought a ride back to the hotel with my Aunt Toby while my dad stayed there. Oh, before I forget to mention.. The grill at the roast.. was huuuuge. It was a long..metal thingy stretching across a circle of rocks... The kids melted marshmellows and ate smores! That was pretty lovely.
So here I am at the hotel. It's 10:30pm, and I'm in the main lobby. Mom is, I presume, sleeping in her hotel room. I dunno if my dad is back yet, but I see some of my relatives returning. Feels so strange, being around my dad's side of the family. I'm so used to being around my mom's side where everyone is African American. And on my dad's side, everyone is white. Hm, I guess for some of those who don't know, I'm mixed. Yep! Sooo..I'm just sitting here.. I guess i'llw rite more once I return home..
And I'm HOME! -dances- I just typed all of that really fast. xD So, I didn't really sleep that night. The next day, Monday, we went to the grave sight near Notre Dame and saw our ancestor's graves. Dad showed me some of the very old buildings around there that were built by my ancestors. Then we went to a pancake house to eat together. After that, we went to Notre Dame campus again, walked around inside the school.. And by then we were on our way back!! Like, we left around 4. We got home TODAY at 12:30am. I thought I'd be back earlier, but nope. But when I got home, mom said I couldn't get back on the laptop until I cleaned my room inside and out.. Well I finished cleaning it..woot!
So all in all, it was nice, but exhausting trip.. I love my family so much! I got so many kisses and hugs.. My family on my dad's side is so nice.. Every single person, besides a kid, is married.. I have a very humble family.. I hope to have another reunion like that again soon, but sadly, it probably won't be with my grandfather.. -cry- I treasured the moment as best as I could.
So tell me, how have you all been for the past three days?
